This can mess up everything you do on your PC, cause random bluescreens, freezing, program crashes and bad data from any application, not just SL. If memtest shows ANY errors, start pulling sticks of ram out of your machine and retesting till you identify the specific stick with an issue.

If this keeps happening, I would strongly urge you to make sure your PC is backed up. Once that data has been shoved, it shoves other different data. Data is just data, and the viewer has no idea what stuff is supposed to look like, it just blindly shoves data about. If you're just presuming that a bad texture is the cause and the stuttering goes away after the cache is cleared, might be an idea to just try rebooting your PC.Ī single bad texture file in the cache can't cause a persistent performance issue. (Eg you see an object in world with an badly corrupted texture that stays corrupted between multiple relogs and reboots - multiple is important, the viewer doesn't save everything in the cache). If you get a bad texture actually saved in the cache then you may have a ram or ssd/hdd problem. I'm a TPV developer working on and providing support for the Catznip Viewer. Remember - RELOGING FIXES MOST PROBLEMS - Do it every few hours. you haven't lost anything, it will catch up, it might just take a bit. If you don't need the thing right now, who cares if your viewer knows about it or not. Packet loss SUPER BAD and BE PATIENT !Ĭlear your inventory cache - this means the server has more work to do over what might well be a wobbly connection. RELOG ! (This will not affect how fast most things in SL load, it's just for certain stuff. If you have tried everything above and you still have problems, open prefs (CTRL+P) and look under the setup tab, the Maximum Bandwidth slider tells the server how fast to try and send you some kinds of data, set it to half of the current value and. (WiFi and SL aren't friends, you will have problems!) See if your have any packet loss at all - 0.0% is good, anything else is bad! If you do have packet loss, that means the region is sending you data and your viewer is missing it. Press SHIFT+CTRL+1 to open the stats floater.

This rules out the region you were on being overwhelmed (as can sometimes happen) - The region KARA is a good place to help resolve inventory issues (it's a full fat mainland region with nothing on it at all - there are others, but KARA is easy to remember). Teleport to a different region and relog. Open the SL Grid Status and check that there arent service issues. If you inventory refuses to fully download The local copy does not "go bad", although it can get out of sync with the server if your network connection is bad. The local copy is sent to your viewer when you log in and when something in inventory changes (eg you acquire, create or delete something). The inventory in your viewer is a slimmed down local copy of this database, it's not your actual stuff, it's sent to you by the region you're on. Inventory in SL lives on the server as a database that points to actual assets - like hair or pictures etc.
